"If you were music, I would listen to you ceaselessly, and my low spirits would brighten up." - Anna Akhmatova

Gordan Nikolić

Gordan Nikolić was born in Serbia and learned the trade from the French violinist and conductor Jean-Jacques Kantorow at the Musikhochschule in Basel. Sir Colin Davis was his great inspiration; Under him Gordan Nikolić was appointed in 1997 as concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra, a position he still holds. He also immersed himself in baroque music, but also collaborated with Witold Lutosławski and György Kurtág, for example, because contemporary music also fascinated him. From the first lectern he led the chamber orchestra of the London Symphony Orchestra, the Orchester National de Lille and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2004/05 he has been artistic director and 'directing concert master' of the Dutch Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber musician Gordan Nikolić worked with colleagues like Christophe Coin, Emanuel Ax and Leif Ove Andsnes and he is part of the Vellinger Quartet. Les gives the violinist to the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music in London and to Codarts Rotterdam. Gordan Nikolić plays an instrument from 1794 by Lorenzo Storioni.
